BB10k Race Report

I was successful on Monday in my continuing quest to get slower and slower, posting a time that was slower even than some of my training runs leading up to the Bolder Boulder. Awesome! Candis meanwhile continues to get faster, although not quite fast enough... yet. I ran a 54:39 and Candis posted a 55:56 (a 3 minute PR).

In typical banker/obsessed runner fashion I decided to use an excel spreadsheet to break down our 10k results over the last 5 years. Then I graphed them to see if there were any interesting trends... I really wish I hadn’t.

I wonder what will happen next year at the Bolder Boulder? I’m sure you’ve all got lots of crazy ideas floating around your heads about what might happen at next years race and you’re welcome to put those in the comments if you want, but I’m only going to make you eat your words when I triumph again next year.

The next potential race on our schedule is the Boulder Half Marathon. We’ve never done it before and have heard some good things about it. This past weekend we also heard a couple of bad things about it, so if any of you have run it or have any input to share we’d certainly appreciate it.

  2. Congratulations on your continued, yet less dominating, triumph over your increasingly faster wife. If your desire to beat her -- that is, in a footrace -- maintains, you will no doubt start getting faster again, as Candis is poised to beat your PR soon.

  3. I would love to do a race in CO...the altitude would kill me though! I am thinking of heading out West in September..anything really cool to do in Boulder during that time? The girl I would be staying with lives outside Denver, but I'm sure I would have to make a trek up to Boulder!!

  4. I guess I better congratulate you for beating Candis now while there is still a chance. So, congratulations...for the final time.

  11. Nice graph!

I ran the Boulder Half when it was the Boulder Backroads. Great course because it's dirt roads. Easy on the knees. The race director was terrible. But, it was his first year, so I should give him slack. I'm sure it's better now.

  14. As a tech girl myself, I can only be impressed by the graph. Beautiful trend in the downward fashion... looks like you're catching up to someone!

  15. Can you please add a trend line to that chart so I can see Candis passing you in 2011.

The Boulder Half Marathon is a solid race, I've run it the last two years. They do tend to have some issues though and last year the half started at 9am and it was really hot and windy, thus they are moving the start time up this year.

    It's a tough course though.

  18. Comment moderation? What the mutha f*ck f*cking f*ck is f*ckin up with f*ckin that, muthaf*cka?

    FYI: All those *s? They're "o"s, muthaf*cka!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I object to the previous comment because I don't think those "*"s are "o"s at all.

How could you let such a comment get posted on your blog? Haven't you heard of comment moderation? I personally think moderation is good but only when used in excess.

Not to be confused with INXS.

  20. Glaven, comment moderation is only turned on for you. Everyone else's comments get directly posted without pause.

That's a lie, comment moderation is enabled on all posts older than 5 days because I was getting hit with all these links to penis enlargement sites and naked celebrity pictures which wouldn't have been so bad had any of them actually worked.
